A very effective team of teachers and teaching assistants helps students who can communicate fluently in other languages but need to develop their competence in speaking, reading, spelling and grammar in English. We tend to focus on students at the beginning stages of learning English in the first instance, as well as giving general support to other EAL students in developing their understanding and communication skills in English.
EAL staff work in partnership with a subject teacher to help make sure that EAL learners are set work that is appropriate to them. They are also involved in some small group and individualised work in addition to running homework and language extension clubs.
